Program Overview:
The Marketing and Development Department is essential to advancing the mission of Northside Neighborhood House (NNH) by enhancing visibility, cultivating donor relationships, and fostering strategic partnerships. This department is responsible for promoting the organization’s services, raising necessary funds, and ensuring long term sustainability.
Position Summary:
The Marketing Specialist will support the planning, execution, and tracking of strategic marketing initiatives to increase awareness of NNH’s services and programs, as well as bolster donor engagement. This role will focus on content creation, social media management, and development of marketing materials to drive donor support.
Work Environment:
The Marketing Specialist will primarily operate within an office environment but will frequently visit other NNH sites and partner organizations to meet the requirements of the role.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or nonprofit development preferred. - A minimum of two years of experience in marketing or social media management is preferred.
- Experience in the nonprofit sector is strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, and reach as needed.
- Capacity to lift up to, and occasionally exceed, 20 lbs.
- Adequate manual dexterity to operate office equipment, such as computers, fax machines, and phones.
- Sufficient hearing and vision to perform essential functions.
Equipment/Technology Proficiency:
- Proficiency with computers and web based tools.
- Ability to quickly learn and adopt new software to support organizational goals.
- Experience with Google Suite and Microsoft Office preferred.
- Experience with Final Cut Pro, iMovie, Canva, InDesign, and Photoshop preferred.
- Familiarity with social media platforms, particularly Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, is required.
- Experience in photography and use of DSLR cameras is preferred.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Schedule:
- The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Regular and punctual attendance is required.
- Flexibility may be needed to accommodate special events or promotional opportunities.
Travel:
- Local travel is a regular part of this role, with reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license required.
- Occasional overnight or out of town travel for training may be needed.
Technology Requirements:
- Proficiency with Google Suite and Microsoft Office is essential, including email, calendar management, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Competency with design software such as Canva, InDesign, Photoshop, and iMovie is also necessary.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage and create content for NNH’s social media platforms across multiple accounts.
- Utilize data analytics to refine and optimize outreach strategies on social media.
- Develop a variety of marketing materials, including print, digital, and multimedia content.
- Write copy for press releases, social media posts, and fundraising materials.
- Represent NNH at community events to enhance visibility and engagement.
- Support fundraising efforts by developing promotional materials.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist the Chief Development Officer with implementing new fundraising initiatives.
- Support general operations as directed by the CEO or Chief Development Officer.
