CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (May 10, 2023) – United Way of Greater Chattanooga held their annual nonprofit Celebrate Awards on Tuesday night at Common House Chattanooga and proudly presented awards for five categories. Nonprofits, community leaders, and local businesses came together to celebrate the past year of collaboration and community work. Greg Funderburg, Director of Marketing and Stakeholder Relations at Urban League of Greater Chattanooga, and Terran Anderson, VP of Corporate and Community Engagement at United Way, hosted the evening.
“Tonight was a vibrant celebration of our passionate and hardworking nonprofit community,” said Anderson. “Many in the social sector work in the background and tonight the spotlight and celebration was all about them. It was so special to look out on the crowd of community change-makers, business leaders, and volunteers celebrating the work we’re doing together for a stronger Greater Chattanooga.”
Winners were selected by a community volunteer review panel and carefully chosen according to impact, uniqueness, and other criteria.
The winners for the five award categories are:
Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion Award: The Bethlehem Center
Nonprofit Organization of the Year Award: MetMin – Metropolitan Ministries
Innovation in Action Award: A Step Ahead Chattanooga
Nonprofit Leader of the Year Award: Kristen Pavlik McCallie
Volunteer of the Year Award: Lamar Selcer
“Chattanooga really is special,” said Lamar Selcer, Volunteer of the Year Award Winner. “It has nothing on our surrounding big cities. The volunteers, the hard work, the collaboration – I’m grateful to be part of this community.”
