United Way of Greater Chattanooga Hosting Largest Volunteer Event of the Year On September 22nd

by | Sep 1, 2023

CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE (AUGUST 29, 2023) Each year, United Way of Greater Chattanooga connects businesses and individuals to nonprofit needs across the region in a volunteerism event called Day of Caring. With over 400 volunteers already participating, United Way of Greater Chattanooga is now opening registration to community members who want to be a part of the day.

“Day of Caring is really an opportunity to see the benefits of volunteerism and connectedness on a direct and large scale” says Natalie Patric, Director of Community Engagement at United Way of Greater Chattanooga. “Every year we are grateful to make new connections for people – whether through the company they work, community group or a nonprofit they’re passionate about.”

Projects are hosted on ihelpchattanooga.org, a volunteer platform that users can visit anytime to see opportunities all around the community. Projects can be indoors or outdoors, for anywhere from 3 to 30 people, and will take place at various times throughout the day. A few examples of projects listed for Day of Caring are a sustainability project on Walden’s Ridge, Porch Painting at Audobon Acres, and home beautification at Orange Grove.

“Our team at Elder’s Ace loves to participate in Day of Caring,” says John Rutter, Director of Marketing & Buying at Elder’s Ace Hardware. “This will mark our 20th year of participating in Day of Caring. Every year, we look forward to lending our skills and expertise to help a local non-profit complete a project. We care, and we want to make a positive impact.”

If you’re looking to get involved or get a group together to volunteer for Day of Caring, visit ihelpchattanooga.org to see the open projects.
